19-year-old singer Pixie Lott doesn’t ”feel pressured to be skinny” and says she has age on her side.
Pixie Lott doesn’t “feel pressured to be skinny”.
The 19-year-old singer – who recently launched her own clothing range for British high street store Lipsy – says she doesn’t worry about her weight despite being famous as she has age on her side.
She said: “When you’re young you can eat what you want, or that’s what I’m hoping.”
However, the ‘Turn It Up’ star says it’s tough avoiding unflattering paparazzi pictures.
She explained: “It’s really annoying, because you have to watch when you get out of the car.”
Despite her tender years, Pixie has won acclaim for her fashion style and recently revealed she loves wearing vintage clothes and likes to vary her look.
She said: “My style really depends on my mood. Sometimes I’m a bit hippy with headbands and flowers, and sometimes I’m a bit indie. And I love hunting around for vintage clothes.”
But she admitted her life sounds more glamorous than it really is and often finds herself getting ready in some strange places.
She said: “I love having my make-up done. But it’s not always so glamorous. I got ready for the Europe Music Awards (EMAs) on the plane! I’d flown in from America and connected straight onto another flight for Berlin. We had to wash my hair with two of us crammed in the tiny toilet cubicle. I don’t think the air hostess was very impressed!”

Joseph Seager caught up with Pixie Lott, chatting about world domination, Hollywood, Brit awards and fashion lines.
Hello Pixie Lott. How are you doing? Where are you currently?
I’m great thanks. I’m in LA at the moment.
How’s 2010 going thus far?
2010 is really going well, the schedule is manic but I wouldn’t want it any other way! The highlight so far was being nominated for three Brit Awards, I felt so honoured as I had only been in the music scene for 8 months!
If people don’t know what you and your music are about (where have they been!?), how would you describe yourself?
Soulful pop that is contemporary with sometimes a retro feel.
What made you decide on Pixie as your stage name?
When I was born my mum nicknamed me Pixie as I was like a little fairy. My sister and brother who were 1 and 2 years old always called me Pixie and thought that was my name and it just stuck!

A milk campaign featuring the celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and the singer Pixie Lott begins on Monday in an effort to reverse a decline in sales.
Ramsay and Lott wear white moustaches in posters to promote the benefits of low-fat milk.
They follow Beyoncé Knowles, the singer, and Hugh Jackman, the actor, who took part in the American version, and then the British No 1 tennis player Andy Murray and the model Nell McAndrew, who starred in the Scottish campaign.
Figures show a 1 per cent fall in milk consumption each year between 2001 and 2008.

The ‘Mama Do’ singer admires the TV presenter’s quirky take on fashion and is desperate to buy the Mulberry bag named after the brunette beauty.
She said:
“I really like what Alexa Chung wears. Those Mulberry bags named after Alexa are wicked – I don’t have one but I’m going to invest.”
Pixie also likes Sienna Miller’s fashion sense and was impressed with her latest collection for her label Twenty8Twelve, which she owns with sister Savannah.
She said:
“Sienna Miller always looks good. I went to the Twenty8Twelve fashion show and the clothes were gorgeous.”
The 19-year-old beauty is known for her blonde locks and although she recently donned a dark wig for her ‘Gravity’ music video, she would never become a permanent brunette.
She said:
“It was really fun wearing that wig and I wore it out one night. But I definitely think I suit and prefer being blonde because that’s what I’ve grown up being and think it’s more me.”
